One of the biggest misconceptions about the refrigerator is that bacteria cannot grow in the cold temperature. As convenient as that would be, it is simply not the case! Whether it’s raw chicken leaking traces of juice out of the bag or unwashed fruits and veggies piled into the crisper drawer, there are all sorts of opportunities for bacteria to grow and spread inside your fridge. There’s also the issue of chemical contamination in your fridge, depending on what you use to clean your dirty fridge with – I don’t want to clean my fridge with a concoction of unhealthy chemicals, which may contaminate the food my family eats.
Norwex helps to keep fridge cleaning simple… there are only three Norwex products I rely on to keep my refrigerator and its contents fresh and clean (& green!).
1. Norwex Fresh Wash. Make a habit of washing my fruits and vegetables with the Norwex Fresh Wash before putting them away. It helps cut down on the amount of pesticides, chemicals, and bacteria hanging out in the refrigerator. If you buy a lot of non-organic produce, it doesn’t take long for pesticides to make their way onto other foods and surfaces, which can lead to even more contamination.
2. Norwex EnviroCloth. The quickest, safest, and most chemical-free way to wipe down ay fridge and keep it clean is with a Norwex EnviroCloth. Since all you need is water to clean (no chemicals needed to disinfect when you use the Norwex microfiber), this is one of the easiest ways possible to wipe down your refrigerator shelves, the inside of the drawers, and all along the inside door where condiments tend to spill.
3. Fridge So Fresh. While the EnviroCloth does help cut down on odors, it doesn’t help with that inevitable funky fridge smell. This is where the new Fridge So Fresh odor eliminator comes in handy. This little guy absorbs and eliminates odors inside your fridge, keeping the air clean and your food fresh. It is made with natural mineral salts and aluminum ammonium salts, so there are no chemicals or perfumes coming in contact with your food. The best part is that you don’t have to replace it every 30 days; simply take it out every 8 weeks, rinse it under warm water, and pop it back in the fridge! One Fridge So Fresh lasts about six months, which is a heck of a lot longer than a box of baking soda.
With these three non-toxic products, it’s incredibly simple to keep your refrigerator clean, free from dangerous bacteria accumulation, and free from cleaning products that are unhealthy. Have you tried any of these yet? What did you think of them?
