In today’s edition of “Use THIS not THAT!”, we’re going to be comparing the Norwex Dusting Mitt vs Dusting Chemicals.
It shocked me to see that so many dusting products received a “D” rating from the Environmental Working Group’s Guide to Healthy Cleaning, particularly the dusting wipes. What can be so dangerous about a pack of cloths that are designed to grab dust?
A lot, it turns out…
It’s interesting that these cloths are supposed to help people with allergies dust their home, yet they contain:
- triethanolamine, a chemical known to cause respiratory effects, aquatic toxicity, and skin irritation or allergies.
- DMDM hydantoin, known to cause systematic/organ effects and even cancer, as well as dimethicone, a non-biodegradable chemical. In fact, the only ingredient in these wipes that gets an “A” rating is… water!
I don’t like cloths like this because they come in a disposable pack, so you use one and dust as much as you can, then throw it away once it’s no longer picking anything up. What a waste! If I haven’t dusted in awhile, I don’t want to even think about how many cloths I would use throughout my home.
That’s why I love the Norwex Dusting Mitt. Not only is it easy to use since it’s literally a mitten, but it does the job BETTER and SAFER with no chemicals. The microfiber pieces are split 200 times, giving it maximum static and grabbing power to pick up dust and allergens without chemicals. Nothing gets by my mitt!
If you dust regularly with the mitt, less dust will begin to accumulate on your home’s surfaces over time. It also lasts for 2+ years (minimum… I’ve had mine for 5 years and it’s still going strong), so if you’re used to going through bottles of dusting chemicals to clean surfaces or you use packs of cloths to dust, you’ll end up saving quite a bit of money. Of course, if you’re not happy with the dusting mitt, it also comes with a 60-day money back guarantee.
This is wonderful for homes with kids, because you can do a quick run-through dusting in their bedrooms without leaving traces of chemicals on their bookshelves or toys. It’s safe for any surface, even precious displays of photo frames, plants, collectibles, or antiques.
So when choosing a winner in the Norwex Dusting Mitt vs Dusting Chemical battle, the Norwex Mitt wins, hands down.
