Norwex is always coming out with innovative, interesting products that help me reduce the harsh chemicals in my home, make life easier, and sometimes, even save me money. As a consultant, I love the opportunity to give all of the products available a try in my home. And I’ll admit to you; sometimes, I’m apprehensive that I’ll actually like, or have a use, for certain products. I see them in the new catalog, and think, “Nope. I would never use something like that.” And sometimes, I think, “There’s no way that actually works/is better than the brand I’m used to using.” There have been a number of products that I’ve thought I’d NEVER like.
It’s funny that even though I’ve used Norwex, and sell for the company, I can be as much of a skeptic as you! I approach bold claims with trepidation, just as you do. While I’m a consultant, I’m still also a consumer, and I want to ‘see it to believe it.‘ But I’ve got to say – I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
I’m going to share with you some products I NEVER thought I’d love, or believed could, in any way, live up to their claims, and how I was happily shocked when I started using them. And you’ll discover that some of those products are. There are even ones I now simply can’t live without!
Which Norwex Products Surprised Me
Norwex Kitchen Cloth
When I was first introduced to the Norwex Kitchen Cloths, I was a big newbie to Norwex in my kitchen. I was currently using washable kitchen cloths, so I couldn’t see how ones priced so much higher would be any different than what I was already using. Sure, I knew that I didn’t love how smelly my current kitchen cloths were, and how much work they felt like (read: bleach loads all the time to freshen them up). I was always throwing my cloths away, and replacing them with new ones. And this was just the norm. How could a Norwex Kitchen Cloth possibly be any different?
When I began using a Norwex Kitchen Cloth instead, and I was given time; boy, was I amazed! This cloth rarely got that retched, overpowering ‘kitchen cloth’ smell. In fact, I could use it for at least a day or two before I felt I needed to launder it. It did get a bad smell from time to time, but it was So much less, compared to my previous cloths. And then, when they did start to smell, a quick deep clean freshened them up to smell like nothing again! The Norwex Kitchen Cloth also wiped down surfaces more effectively than my other cloths. The ribbed fabric grabbed onto crumbs really effectively, and the cloth was the perfect size to fold into fourths and wipe everything down. Not only that, but I only needed water to effectively remove 99% of everything from the surfaces of my kitchen. No soap. No disinfectant sprays, wipes, or cleaners necessary AT ALL; EVER. That alone made me yell ‘Sold!’ (well, in my head, haha!).
So now, I love my Norwex Kitchen Cloths and have a drawer full of them. Don’t get me started on all of the cute color options available, with a matching kitchen towel available too! The only downside of these cloths is that I now go to other people’s houses and hate helping them wipe the counters with their awful cloths!
Norwex Dish Cloth
While the Norwex Kitchen Cloths are meant for wiping the surfaces of the kitchen with just water, they’re not meant for washing dishes. That’s what the Dish Cloth is for. Since I was in love with the Norwex Kitchen Cloths, I needed something for washing my dishes, and I figured I should give the Dish Cloth a try. I was apprehensive though. It was so weird! A giant nylon cloth that looked more like a net than a cloth; how was this supposed to get my dishes clean?! However, the more I used it, the more I really liked it!
At first, it just seemed way too big and bulky. But I discovered that once wet, it would scrunch right up into my hand. And the material was actually really effective at scrubbing my dishes clean. But the best, most amazing, absolutely wonderful thing I discovered after using it for a length of time was that this cloth never ever ever ever, NO NOT ONCE, has been smelly. I AM TELLING YOU THE TRUTH, really! This is the one dish cloth that changes everything for your dish washing experiences, because of that one fact.
I also loved how easy it was to clean. Not only did it not need much attention (I rinse after use and drape to dry), but I can totally get away with only ‘cleaning’ it about once a week. And all I do is lay it on the top rack of the dishwasher, on top of the glasses, and run it through a cycle in the dishwasher. Yup. It was so easy to be all over this thing! {If you don’t have a dishwasher, this is just as easily cleaned in your washing machine} Then, Norwex actually improved the cloth, so it was a little bit thicker and stronger, and I loved my new one even more!
Cutting Board
When Norwex released a cutting board made of rice husks, my response was, “say whaa???” And I thought, ‘this is weird (again). I was also a little aghast at the price. I thought, ‘Please. It’s a cutting board. No one is going to pay that much for it!’ I was decided that I was NOT going to buy it, and NOT going to promote that ‘overpriced’ product. I definitely thought I’d never like this one.
But then I earned one for free. So of course, I stuck it in the kitchen, ’cause why not, it was free! And having this cutting board in my kitchen RUINED me because I became a cutting board snob! I don’t think I can explain in words the ‘feeling’ of this cutting board. It’s seriously the best cutting board I’ve ever used.
You’d never believe it was made out of pressed rice husks because it actually ‘feels’ like plastic. It’s very solid. And the knife glides on that thing smoother than rubbing a baby’s bare skin! There’s a silicone ring on the bottom, so the board doesn’t slip around as you’re chopping, a slight indented edge, to catch liquid (to which I say, ‘thank you!), and a hole in the corner for easy storage. This board is surprisingly durable. It gets very few knicks and cuts from knives. And I love that it’s made from biodegradable materials, and comes in two sizes. The large one is AMAZING, and the one I always grab. I think I’m giving one to everyone I know for their Birthday! Bring heaven to your slicing and dicing with this cutting board that is now, in my opinion, not overpriced!
Norwex Detergent
I was skeptical of this laundry detergent because no ‘green’ detergent had ever done an actual good job before, in my experiences with them. Not to mention the price. The bag seemed so little for what I was paying.
I decided, as a consultant, I should at least try it so that I would have an educated opinion; I was totally proven wrong. This detergent was fantastic! It not only cleaned my clothes extremely well but was versatile. I could use it for stain treatments, and cleaning car upholstery, carpets, oily buildup on kitchen surfaces, stainless steel appliances, furniture stains, and my front load washing machine stopped stinking. To top it all off – this detergent was saving me money! I also loved the side effect of helping me kick my scent addiction. Since this detergent is scent-free, I got used to the laundry that basically smelled like nothing. And now, I can’t stand the way other peoples’ clothes smell. Laundry snob!!!
Crystal Deodorant
With this product, I couldn’t wrap my head around how it worked, since it was so different from what I was used to. I also felt like it would take too much time in my morning routine to really ‘get on the bandwagon’ of this type of deodorant. Not to mention that everyone I knew that had ever tried a crystal deodorant claimed they simply didn’t work.
I was really curious about this one, and kind of wanted to be able to ‘prove people wrong’ by giving it a try. Once I learned how to use it properly, it ACTUALLY worked for me. I was able to get rid of antiperspirant, as well as my all-natural deodorant that was sticky and left a messy residue behind on my clothes. I’ve now been using this deodorant for over a year. I love that it’s still going strong, and still has lots of stone left! And when it comes to my morning routine, it added probably 40-60 seconds to my routine. I can handle that!
Entry Mat
This entry mat was a big old ‘no’ for me when I first got my hands on it. I couldn’t see how this was a useful product, mainly because it was so gosh-darn small. Aren’t entry mats are supposed to be big, covering all of that entry space, to protect the floor? It also had these funny feeling bristles interspaced on it that I didn’t like the feeling of. How uncomfortable! But this was another product that came my way for free and being the practical person I was, I figured I’d use it. So I stuck it in the entry way.
A few weeks later, I picked it up and took it outside to shake it out. And I COULD NOT BELIEVE how much dirt this mat was holding. I have never owned a mat that could hold as much dust, dirt, and little rocks as this mat. While I still didn’t love its small size, I could see how it was actually very effective. When the mat gets REALLY dirty, I love how easy it is to throw it in the washing machine, then hang it to dry. In my experience, most entry mats I’ve owned are both too big and too inflexible to be able to launder. Another bonus! So here’s what happened. After owning the brown mat for two years, I am now lusting to own the graphite one, because I love that color even more (it was only available in brown for a long time).
Do you like surprises?
What I find interesting is that this list of ‘things I was surprised by’ is actually not complete. This is only a handful of products that I was a skeptic about when first introduced. There are actually many more products that I use in my everyday life I never thought that I would have any ‘need’ of. And that just goes to show you what Norwex is all about. It’s a company that creates and distributes innovative, helpful products that make everyday life safer and easier.
If in doubt, just give it a try, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
