This microfiber floor mat from Norwex is expensive. But it is fantastic, and I (surprisingly) love it.
I don’t think I would say it’s in the same category as products like the Enviro Cloth, Window Cloth, or Laundry Detergent, which are absolute must-haves in every home, but this floor mat is versatile, practical, and will last forever. Also, it’s soooo luxurious.
What I love about the Norwex Chenille Floor Mat
These floor mats are durable – they wear beautifully and look new for a very long time.
While this style of floor mats has just been added to the Norwex catalog (2023-24), Norwex released a limited edition version of this mat about 5 years ago; I purchased one for each of my 3 bathrooms, and I LOVE them! I have been extremely impressed with how well they’ve stood up to constant use and laundering. They literally look brand new after 5 years of use!
Super Absorbent
These mats absorb a LOT of water – it can absorb up to 10 times its weight! Just look at these fluffy tendrils!
Dries quickly AND contains BacLock®
I was very surprised at how fast my Norwex floor mats dried in between uses. I only use mine in front of our bathtubs/showers, so they’re getting wet daily but they don’t stay perpetually wet. The little chenille puffs on this mat don’t go completely flat and compact when wet – they stay somewhat upright – allowing for better airflow to the whole mat. This allows for faster and better drying.
Additionally, these mats contain BacLock®*. When wet, BacLock goes to work to protect the mat from odor-causing bacteria, keeping it from smelling bad!
*BacLock is an antimicrobial agent solely intended to protect and self-clean the mat by inhibiting growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew.
Drying Tips
- If the mat is saturated – it works best if you can hang the mat (over the edge of your bathtub or on a clothesline, for example) to increase airflow. You can also throw it in your dryer!
- If the mat is just damp – it will dry as is, on the floor! In our bathroom, I still like to hang it over the edge of the tub to speed up the drying, but my kids don’t usually think to do this extra step, and it still dries surprisingly quickly. It’s even more helpful to give the mat a little shake when it’s wet, to fluff up any flatted puffs.
Doesn’t Slip
The Norwex floor mats have a latex-free rubber backing, ensuring they stay securely in place.
Easy to Wash
Wash and dry in the washing machine and dryer. Yes, even with the rubber backing these mats can go in the dryer!
Avoid fabric softener, bleach and dryer sheets, like all of our microfiber products, and it’s recommended to use one of the Norwex laundry detergents, which are all formulated without Phosphates, sulphates, chlorine, dyes, fragrances, fillers, phthalates, bleach, ammonia and optical brighteners.
Comes in 2 Sizes & 2 Colors
I love that these mats come in 2 different sizes making them even more versatile based on your needs!
- Chenille Floor Mat – 19.69″ long
- Chenille Runner – 48″ long
They also come in 2 lovely neutral colors; dark grey and heathered oatmeal. They will coordinate beautifully with any interior color scheme.
So Versatile!
These mats are so much more than a bathmat! They can be used in so many places for lots of different purposes.
- In the bathroom
- In the kitchen in front of the sink to absorb the splashes
- In front of outside doors during rainy or snowy weather to absorb the excess water and help prevent slipping
- Pool owners – keep it just inside the door that pool users enter by to soak up the drips
- For Pets – use as a bed or at the bottom of a kennel to keep pets clean and dry
- For Babies – yep, you read that correctly! This chenille mat works SO well as a changing-table pad, providing a soft and hygienic surface for your little one!
- In bedrooms – these are lovely soft mats to have beside your bed, especially for rooms with hardwood floors
What I don’t love
Price
This mat, both the small and the large, are very expensive. Shockingly so. For many people, spending this amount for a floor rug isn’t in the budget. As I mentioned earlier, I think the Norwex floor mats are a luxury item, not a necessity.
My Conclusion
This Norwex Bath Mat is a 5-star product with a 3-star price tag.
I love everything about my floor mats – they’re very absorbent, they dry quickly, they’re machine washable and dryable, they’re slip resistant, they come in 2 great sizes colors, they can be used in so many places, they last FOREVER, and they’re really beautiful. Functionally and esthetically, they’re perfect. Plus, it’s covered under the Norwex microfiber two-year warranty.
The ONLY thing I don’t love about these mats is the high price. If you’re specifically looking to purchase a high-quality, beautiful mat, however, I think it’s worth the price. I know if you buy one or more, you won’t regret purchasing.
I’d love to hear in the comments if you’ve purchased the Norwex Floor Mat, and if so, what are your thoughts about it?

I washedmy Norwex bath mat in the washer. It absorbs so much water and becomes so heavy it literally broke my washers spin mechanism. I had to get a new washer. So now I’m afraid to use my washer to clean it. What is an alternative way to clean it well?

The Norwex bath mat? We wash ours weekly with a whole other load of clothes and we’ve never had a problem.

How do you get the bath mats clean? I wash mine just as you said, but it is never even visually clean of debri from the floor.
Suzanne Holt says
Microfiber is very ‘grabby,’ so sometimes, threads and small bits of things do get stuck in it. Sometimes, you have to pick them out with your fingers to effectively get out the large debris from your floor (unfortunately). A comb might help do the trick, or a cheap razor, too!
